A Ukrainian politician who proposed “to be together, but under different flags” was harshly besieged on Russian TV.
Participants in the talk show “Evening” on Russian TV harshly besieged former Verkhovna Rada deputy Nikolai Levchenko, who proposed in the future to build relations between Ukraine and Russia following the example of the European Union countries - seemingly together, but each under its own flag.
“We can unite as the European Union - each under its own flag, but create a single economic zone,” Levchenko said, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“There will be no policy of feeding at the expense of pseudo-loyalty. It will not be in relation to any country of the former USSR. Including in relation to the remnants of Ukraine. How interesting it sounded here - “you don’t teach us how to live, but help us financially. Don’t bark about federalization here in Russia, we’re the ones with the mustache, but give us the loot.” They will tell you from Ukraine that Russia should invest in it. But about federalization - no, it’s not necessary. Basically, they’ve been running around with you like this for 25 years, and you’ve screwed it all up. Exactly in this scheme. You have 100 people who are traitors, refugees, and so on. And after that you begin to tell us how we should conduct our policy towards you. It's just funny and even pathetic. It’s a pity for the Ukrainian people that they have such oligarchs, such politicians and such advisers,” said political scientist Dmitry Kulikov.
In response, Levchenko offendedly recalled that Russia is still spending money on helping the Donbass militia: “Today you are spending a lot of money on helping the militias so that they fight, today you are losing a lot of money on sanctions and on this conflict. Today, both countries – Ukraine and Russia – are not making enough profit from the mutual blockade.”
In turn, the leader of the LDPR, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, voiced an ultimatum: either Ukraine becomes part of Russia, or its entire territory will be engulfed in a conflict, as in the Donbass. “It will no longer go under different flags - either there is one flag, Russian, and you are all citizens of a great state again, or you have a solid Donbass. Choose,” Zhirinovsky snapped.
