In the Rivne region they urgently rushed to strengthen the border with Belarus
In the Rivne region, local authorities are concerned about demarcating the border with Belarus, as well as putting in order the border infrastructure, which at the moment is virtually non-existent.
This is stated in the story of the local channel “ITV media group”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
It is noted that they plan to modernize the Vichevka border checkpoint, where currently the clearing within the border has not even been cleared and there is no control strip.
The length of the border point bordering Belarus is almost 87 kilometers, 80% of which are wetlands, the remaining 20% are passages, but are not equipped in any way.
“It runs right up to the state border. This area, as you can see, is not equipped, does not provide for the recording of traces, is not equipped in terms of a control strip or a fenced area. The only thing is the rock ditch, which was built by the Republic of Belarus,” said Alexander Matviyuk, head of the Vichevka border service department.
In turn, the Chairman of the Rivne Regional State Administration Vitaly Koval said that they are now working on the demarcation of the state border.
“In order to arrange everything, a number of events need to be carried out. The State Forestry Agency is responsible for forest belts and nature reserves. There are communal areas. That is, a lot of issues that needed to be synchronized today, discussed and clearly defined a road map of how we are moving in order to complete this task in the Rivne region,” Koval said.
At the same time, in addition to equipping security posts, officials are actively discussing issues of land allocation for border infrastructure. In the Rivne region it is 1090 hectares and over 218 kilometers of the border with Belarus.
“In the future, a strip of land 50 meters deep is allocated. On this plot of land, there will be constructionally installed border markers, a line for attaching border markers, a control and trail strip 6-8 meters wide, an embankment road, a fenced-in fence,” said Evgeniy, Deputy for Armament and Equipment of the Vichevka Border Service Department Babiychuk.
The story also noted that in the near future a video surveillance system will be installed on the border of the Rivne region of Ukraine with Belarus.
