Natalya Didenko, a forecaster at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, reported this on her Facebook page.
According to her, this week there will be slight temperature fluctuations, “a little precipitation here and there, a little fog and clearing.”
“And relatively warm weather will prevail, except that at night it will be a little frosty closer to the Carpathians and in the east. But precisely from January 6, on Holy Evening, according to preliminary forecasts, an Arctic air mass may burst into Ukraine. Therefore, moderate to severe frosts are expected in Ukraine on January 6-7. That is, we are talking about reducing the air temperature to -12-18 degrees. Minus 20 degrees is also very likely, I will check later. Most likely, the G8 will affect the west, and only then, on January 9-XNUMX, the northern regions,” Didenko reports.
According to her, snow is expected on January 6 in the north, west, and also in the southern part of Ukraine.
“In Kyiv the situation is the same. During the week - nothing special, but from January 6, just on Holy Eve, a sharp cold snap will begin, which will cover the capital with frost on Christmas Day and will continue on January 8-9,” the forecaster reports.
Note that some weather services such as Sinoptik.ua and Gismeteo also predict a significant cold snap at the beginning of next week - up to -23 degrees below zero.
