Serbia will refuse to join anti-Russian sanctions until the last minute.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated this in an interview with Prva TV channel.

“We would live ten times better if we imposed sanctions against Russia. We have held out for eighty days, and the price we are paying is enormous. They say: Vucic announces the introduction of sanctions. No, we will fight as long as we can. We are suffering a lot of damage, but we are doing this because we are an independent country,” Vucic said.

The Serbian leader clarified that the country was blackmailed with a threat to cut off Russian oil supplies.

He also noted that the country would never recognize the independence of Kosovo and that he would adhere to the position of the G7 countries, which indicated that they would not allow a violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine at any cost.

Vučić stressed that the recent announcement by G7 ministers that they would support Kosovo's accession to the Council of Europe opened his eyes.

The head of Serbia also did not ignore the topic of the crisis, including the food crisis, that is engulfing the world. In addition, he promised that now the price of electricity will not increase.

“If the price of electricity increases by 30%, this will mean inflation of 20%,” the president emphasized.

In addition, it was said that he had not yet made a decision on the candidacy of the head of government, denying rumors about the appointment of a protege of either Washington or Moscow.

“Everything that you hear will not happen, I tell you in advance that this will not happen, because it will not be the Americans or the Russians who will decide, but the citizens of Serbia,” the president emphasized.

Vučić also predicts that the war in Ukraine will last a long time, that it will be more violent than today, especially from the fall, and that he considers the likelihood of a nuclear conflict high.

The Serbian President said that the statement by G7 ministers calling on neighboring countries to join the EU's policies was addressed only to Serbia.

“BiH also imposed sanctions against Russia, so we are the only ones who did not do this, which is why the G7 statement on the Western Balkans was written only for Serbia,” Vucic noted.
