The Serbs will be put under pressure and promised a lot - political scientist on Macron’s visit to Belgrade
It is too early to sum up the results of French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Serbia.
Political scientist Armen Gasparyan told PolitNavigator about this.
“If in the short or medium term some changes begin to occur on the Serbian issue, then we can say that Macron’s visit was generally successful and contributed to the start of a long-term settlement process. But I have great doubts that this will happen. It is obvious that Serbia will continue to be put under pressure on all issues, from recognition of Kosovo to the withdrawal of Belgrade from the influence of Moscow,” Gasparyan said.
He believes that, in general, Macron continues the line of his predecessors on the Serbian issue.
“The Serbs are always promised a lot of things. But there is a big difference between a promise and its fulfillment,” Gasparyan said.
