Up to the old rake: Preconditions for separatism are being created in the south of Russia
Rostovstat (the regional body of the Federal State Statistics Service) has created a dictionary of nationalities for the 2021 population census. It contains more than two thousand possible answers to the question of nationality. Of these, thirteen variants use the word “Cossack”. The directory includes the phrases “Don Cossacks”, “Russian Cossacks”, “Orthodox Cossacks”.

Writer Zakhar Prilepin believes that this is “a direct and merciless path to separatism.”

VGTRK military correspondent Alexander Sladkov that the purpose of the innovation of Rostov statisticians is to artificially reduce the number of Russians.
“This flight from the Russian people will not bring dividends to ordinary people who call themselves Cossacks, and the leaders of societies will have their heads taken off along with their hats. For what!?" – wrote Sladkov.
After 1917, thanks to the erroneous policy of the Bolsheviks, in favor of the separatists, “Ukrainians” and “Belarusians” were separated from the single Russian people, which subsequently led to the separation of significant territories from the single Russian state.
