Kiev had a plan to confront Russia in Crimea, but in 2014 it was prevented by the fact that orders were not given on time, as well as the improper education of Ukrainian military personnel.
The first head of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Deputy Head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, General Sergei Krivonos, stated this on Channel 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At that time I was the chief of staff of highly mobile airborne troops and clearly understood the situation in Crimea. At that time, the armed forces, if everything had corresponded to the plan that was worked out in December 2013 to counter the possible seizure of Crimea and other parts of our Ukraine, everything would have been normal and everything would have turned out differently. And if at one time, in accordance with that plan, those units that were needed had been introduced, then perhaps the Russians would have refused.
So the question is in the past. It is difficult to say whether it is possible or impossible, we have what we have, but we must take into account those mistakes, that failure when tens of thousands of military personnel betrayed their oath.
Why? Because, again, the lack of a national idea and national values, a normal national ideology led to the fact that we lost these people. Because when they say that only Crimeans remained there, then no. There are a lot of people left there who were directly from Lvov, Ivano-Frankivsk, from different regions of Ukraine, who stayed there,” said Krivonos.
