A deserter with a machine gun was detained in Sumy region
A conscript soldier was detained today in the Sumy region after the soldier fled from his daily assignment along with weapons and ammunition.

This was reported by the press service of the military prosecutor's office of the Central region of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On November 6, 2017, while serving on daily duty, a soldier, in order to evade the duties of military service, arbitrarily left the territory of military unit A1476 along with the weapon issued to him - an AKS-74 assault rifle and 60 rounds of ammunition for it,” the press service reported.
Information about the event is included in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations on the grounds of a criminal offense under Part 3 of Art. 408 (Desertion, - ed.) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.
It is also reported that a pre-trial investigation has been organized, during which the reasons and conditions that contributed to the commission of the criminal offense will be established.
