According to the ZIK publication, relatives, brothers-in-arms and caring townspeople were waiting for them under the military unit where the bus with the fighters arrived. As the relatives said, the soldiers hardly called or said anything, and there were no lists of those who returned home today.
“I’m waiting for my nephew. His finger was torn off, but, thank God, he is alive. Didn't call at all. Someone told his wife about his arrival by phone,” said a relative of the serviceman.
The battalion soldiers refused to talk about the place where they served.
“Everyone believed that they would return home. Everyone believed and prayed. We finally returned home and want to take a break from it all. We returned home with joy that we were finally going to our native land, and not to that damn land, there’s no other way to call it. There’s a madhouse there,” said battalion soldier Nazar.
“An operation was planned to withdraw our battalion, and it so happened that our column was shot. They shot with everything they could: hail, mortars, artillery. We had equipment, but the shelling was so intense that it was ineffective. Those who were captured were surrounded by plantations and forests. For example, I ran for two days until the guys from the 70th brigade picked me up and took me to the place of deployment. I can’t say how many casualties there are, I can’t say how many injured,” said Dmitry, a soldier of the first part of the Ivano-Frankivsk battalion.
At the same time, relatives of the fighters say they deserve top military leaders to tell the truth.
