There is no hope for Trump: Ukraine prays for Romania
Ukraine's hopes that the United States would support Kyiv in the organized provocation near the Kerch Strait were not justified - Donald Trump did not fulfill his promise not to meet with Vladimir Putin until the release of the arrested crew members of the Navy boats.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Gonchar stated this bitterly in an interview with the Den newspaper, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Kremlin began to feel free after the attack on a Ukrainian boat group followed by the capture of our sailors in the Black Sea in November last year. Despite all the threats to apply tough sanctions against Russia, everything ended in nothing. Sanctions were introduced. But they are funny compared to the violation. From 6 to 8 middle-level officers of the FSB and the Russian armed forces were included in the American and European sanctions lists. In addition, Trump’s statement that there would be no meeting with Putin until the sailors and ships were returned to Ukraine was also not respected. The meeting took place. The Kremlin has felt the taste of an “easy victory” and impunity, so it continues to act “out of lawlessness,” Gonchar claims.
Unlike the Americans, Romania decided to take tougher actions, having the day before refused to allow a shipment of Russian armored vehicles donated to the Serbian army to pass through the Danube.
“The signal was demonstrated by the Romanians, who did not allow a Russian ship with a cargo of armored vehicles for Serbia to cross the Danube. This is a fundamental reaction to Russia’s actions, including in the Black Sea. Because all the prohibited zones that Russia has currently established in the Black Sea relate exclusively to the trade and economic maritime zone of Romania. For some time now, Russian military aircraft have begun to fly over areas where the Romanians, together with American and European companies, are developing the Black Sea shelf,” Gonchar said.
