This was reported by the Kiev website “Letters” with a link to user materials on Facebook.
The issue began with the words of Vladimir Zelensky that a new trend has appeared in the United States - coming out. “Some famous person, a star, admits that he is now not a “he”, but a “she,” says Zelensky. Thus, the studio “Kvartal 95” showed a number from the dress rehearsal of the play “Buratino” at the Nezhinsky Theater for Young Spectators after the main character said that he had become “Pinocchio”.
First, a well-known song about the character plays, but the lyrics are by “Kvartal”.
“... tell me his name: “Pi-...” - the director stops the song and asks to perform the song correctly. The team starts again, but it sounds: “Boo-ras!”
This number contains several more homophobic jokes, according to social network users, but the director asks them to be more tolerant. However, when Pinocchio approaches him, the director asks him to move away. After this, another hero, Papa Carlo, refuses to play in the same play with Pinocchio with the words: “Excuse me, but I will not whine such a son.”
Further in the scene, Papa Carlo gives Pinocchio the alphabet, the director asks him to sit closer to his father, but he moves Pinocchio with his foot away from him.
Later, in a commentary to the publication of human rights activist Sofia Lapina, representatives of Kvartal 95 apologized for the skit and stated that the video had been removed from public access.
“Friends, the New Year’s issue of “Evening Quarter” about Buratino undoubtedly did not have the goal of offending anyone, but we admit that it could seem that way. We offer our sincere apologies to those he offended. The number will be removed from all official channels of the Kvartal 95 studio and withdrawn from public access,” the message says.
At the same time, the publication notes that as of January 4, an apology for the unsuccessful number was not made public on the Kvartal 95 Facebook page.
