Buckwheat prices will rise in Ukraine, despite a good harvest

Kyiv, December 11 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Semenyuta) – Buckwheat producers are in no hurry to sell it to processors. Against the backdrop of rising food prices, they are holding back cereals in the hope that price increases will continue.

In 2014, Ukraine harvested about 170 thousand tons of buckwheat, reports the agro-industrial company Agrotrade. Despite the fact that the volume of the harvest exceeds annual consumption in the country by about 20 thousand tons, analysts expect prices to rise.
Compared to November 2013, in November of this year, consumer prices in Ukraine increased by 21,8%.
