This is stated in the message of the Center for Disease Control and Monitoring of the Ministry of Health, posted on the Facebook page.
“Since the beginning of 2017, according to the Ukrainian Center for Disease Control and Monitoring of the Ministry of Health, 62 cases of botulism have been registered in Ukraine, 71 people have been injured,” it says.
It is also reported that since April, 8 people who ate dried and smoked fish have died from the disease. One person died from eating homemade stew.
The report notes that since independence in Ukraine, botulism has been rare, but one of the reasons was fish, mainly dried or smoked.
The main department of the State Food and Consumer Service in Kyiv announced a temporary ban on the sale of dried fish after cases of fatal poisoning in Kyiv and Kherson. According to media reports, Health Minister Ulyana Suprun fled from journalists after being asked about the botulism outbreak.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator reported, the Ministry of Health recognized the lack of drugs for the special treatment of botulism and childhood measles in Ukraine.
