A new Chernobyl sarcophagus has been completed in Ukraine
In Ukraine, a new safe confinement “Shelter” was completed, which underwent a 72-hour trial operation, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The government has completed the Shelter project, we have restored the entire range of measures to ensure safety for people’s lives and health. Now the situation is completely stable. We, together with international partners, are introducing the latest technologies and solutions to overcome the consequences of the Chernobyl accident,” Prime Minister Groysman said at the opening.
During the trip, Groysman visited the new safe confinement “Shelter”, which underwent a 72-hour trial operation. The project is 99% ready, completion of work is planned in May-June 2019.
In addition, Groysman visited the construction of a central storage facility for spent nuclear fuel and the Vektor radioactive waste processing and disposal complex.
It is reported that the Ukrainian government, together with international partners, is implementing a number of important projects in the Chernobyl zone that relate to security and economics. In particular, the construction of a new safe confinement and spent nuclear fuel storage facility ISF-2 is being completed, work is underway on the construction of the Central Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility, and alternative energy is being developed.
