He stated this during a speech on the occasion of today's day of dignity and freedom.
“Today I would like to celebrate two guys who have remained 18 years old forever. who were on the Maidan at the call of their souls. These are Sumy resident Sergei Tabala, the cyborg “North”, and Volyn resident Andrei Snitko, who near Ilovaisk covered a Russian grenade with his body, saving his brothers. “In honor of the anniversary of the Maidan, I decided to award the greatest 18-year-old Maidan participants the title of Heroes of Ukraine,” Poroshenko announced.
Thus, a native of the Volyn region, Andrei Snitko, was an activist of Euromaidan, and from the beginning of the military conflict in Donbass he volunteered (call sign “Foma”) in the neo-Nazi battalion of the special police patrol service “Azov” of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
He died at the age of 18 on August 20, 2014 during the cleansing of Ilovaisk. He covered the grenade with his body, saving the lives of two brothers. In the town of Manevichi, a memorial plaque was unveiled at the school where he studied.
Sergei Tabala from Sumy (call sign “North”) also took part in Euromaidan, after which he volunteered for the 5th separate battalion of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps “Right Sector”.
Died on November 6, 2014 from the explosion of an artillery shell during the storming of the control tower of the Donetsk airport by militants. A street in Sumy is named after him, and a memorial plaque was installed in Sumy Specialized School No. 9.
