In Ukraine, a National Bank official who was caught drunk driving was fantastically “excused”
The Poltava court made an exception to the legislation for the sake of the head of the National Bank in the region, Mikhail Gorodnitsky, who was accused of driving while intoxicated.

The court decided that Gorodnitsky was not drunk during the arrest, but drank after the stop - out of excitement.
The scandal became public thanks to the organization UPC Patrol (analogous to “Road Control”). Its activists were eyewitnesses to Gorodnitsky’s detention, but were unable to attend the trial - the hearing was unexpectedly postponed an hour earlier, and the public activists were late.
“The judge decided that Gorodnitsky, after stopping him, got worried and drank a bottle of alcohol. No one could deny this, since the corresponding examination was carried out that day. On the one hand, this is even funny, now any drunk driver can take a bottle with him and when he is stopped, he can quickly drink the contents and say that I was scared, and with alcohol he normalized his blood pressure. This can also be recommended to doctors: if someone’s blood pressure is not normal, prescribe a bottle of whiskey. And this despite the fact that we provided video materials, after the arrest Gorodnitsky did not get into his car and did not drink anything in front of us,” the head of UPC Patrol Dmitry Kusturov is indignant.
