In Ukraine, the final cleansing of the information space is being prepared
A bill approved by the relevant committee has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, proposing to prohibit Ukrainian broadcasters from using terminology and expressions that, according to deputies, violate the law “On the specifics of state policy to ensure the state sovereignty of Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.”
The Kommersant newspaper writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We do not support annexation and occupation, but now it is becoming dangerous to even mention the very names of the self-proclaimed republics of Donbass. And without mentioning them, it is impossible to talk about what is happening there. That is, it turns out that it’s better not to talk about Donbass at all on air,” an interlocutor close to the Ukrainian TV channel “Inter” told the publication.
In addition, the NewsOne and 112 Ukraine TV channels were also under threat.
“Thanks to these channels, Viktor Medvedchuk and representatives of the Opposition Bloc can again take serious positions in Ukrainian politics, and this cannot be allowed,” the newspaper quoted the opinion of an interlocutor in the Petro Poroshenko Bloc as saying.
It is noted that in the event of a tightening of state policy towards NewsOne, Inter and 112, there will actually be only one Channel 5, owned by Petro Poroshenko, left on the information field.
“The country’s information field is becoming more and more monotonous. The attempt to write a bill specifying words that cannot be spoken on air was provoked by the war in Donbass. But in fact, this document leads to the introduction of strict censorship in Ukraine with the possible subsequent closure of dissenting channels,” Kiev political scientist Vadim Karasev commented on the situation.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, a Ukrainian journalist spoke about censorship on Poroshenko’s channel.
In addition, Ukrainian politicians began to call the situation in the country due to “humanitarian occupation”
