This was stated by the General Director of the State Concern, Roman Romanov, on Channel 5.

Romanov noted that the design documentation and estimates for the construction of the plant have long been ready and sent to the Cabinet of Ministers. The government has been offered more than 10 options for constructing the plant, and as soon as the Cabinet of Ministers makes the appropriate decision, Ukroboronprom will be able to begin work.

“We will create a modern ammunition production facility that will meet all international standards. Significant capacities will make it possible not only to fully satisfy the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but also to supply products for export. And this means stable foreign currency revenues to the state budget. Thus, we will compensate for the allocated funds,” Romanov assured.

He emphasized that Ukraine needs its own ammunition production, since the only domestic ammunition plant is located in Lugansk and makes cartridges for the LPR.

“We have innovative technologies for the manufacture of ammunition, but until now we did not have the appropriate production base. The construction of the plant will give us a certain independence: we will produce not only the latest weapons, but also shells for them,” said the general director of Ukroboronprom.

He added that according to world experience, 40-60% of ammunition is made blank for military training. Therefore, production will always be in demand.

Ukroboronprom notes that the concern continues to develop within the framework of the Ukrainian Shield strategy. It provides for a transition to high-tech production, international standards and equipping the army with modern weapons.

The concern promised to completely switch to North Atlantic Alliance standards by 2020.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet of Ministers says that there is no money in this year’s budget.
