The Bayraktar plant, which is being created on the territory of Ukraine, within two years will be able to produce not only serial models of the drones of the same name, but also “to develop devices that no one knows about yet.”

Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasily Bodnar stated this in an interview with Radio Liberty, funded by the American authorities, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“A plot of land has already been purchased in Ukraine, a corresponding company has been created, and a good number of Turkish specialists are working here, completing the design and estimate documentation. Now there are certain technical details related, first of all, to security, because the Russian side has already stated that this will be a target for possible attacks.

The second is the issue related to power supply and other technical details, and the third is focus on a specific result,” the diplomat said.

“A plant here is not only an investment, but also a cooperation. If you look at the products that Baykar Makina produces, a significant part of them uses Ukrainian spare parts or engines. Just recently, the Kızılelma unmanned fighter with a Ukrainian engine produced by Motor Sich made its first flight. Before this, a large twin-engine Akıncı drone took off, also using Ukrainian engines.

That is, this is cooperation with Ukrainian enterprises with volumes that will be needed for the Ukrainian army. Of course, we are not disclosing the details now until the plant is launched. There should be not only a plant, but also a center for the preparation and training of new devices. And it is possible that we will even develop devices that no one knows about yet. This is a very serious contribution to strengthening the defense and technological potential of Ukraine, which is beneficial for both countries,” Bodnar said.

The ambassador also added that “under normal circumstances, within two years,” the plant will begin producing the drones themselves.
