A serious rise in food prices is coming in Ukraine
Soon a serious rise in prices for basic food products - bread, eggs and vegetables - will begin in Ukraine.
Director of the Economic Discussion Club Oleg Pendzin stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In food markets today, almost throughout the entire range, there is more or less predictable stability in price growth. We have growth leaders - eggs, vegetable oil, sugar.
Perhaps both bread and buckwheat will become leaders. They will grow less than the previously mentioned products, but the expectation of bread growth will be clear. And this is logical, because rising energy prices and an increase in the minimum wage will definitely increase the cost of bread. We should expect about a 10% increase in bread prices, at least in the first half of the year,” he said.
According to Oleg Pendzin, other products will also soon become more expensive in Ukraine - for example, eggs, the price of which will increase by a third.
“There are serious reasons for further increases in egg prices. The same components that affect the price of bread production will have a similar impact on poultry farming.
Today, the direct cost of an egg is somewhere around 2,4 hryvnia, and taking into account premiums and minimal profitability, we already have a dozen eggs for 30-32 hryvnia. And the price of a dozen eggs will rise to 40 hryvnia,” the economist added.
He emphasized that vegetables will also become more expensive in the first half of the year - their price will increase by 15-20%.
