Over the past three years, the demand for vapes has tripled in Ukraine - this is an analogue of an ordinary cigarette, which is based not on the smoldering of tobacco, but on the evaporation of liquid.

This method of smoking is considered less harmful and allows you to give up your usual cigarettes. It gained the greatest popularity among young people.

Buying a vape has become a kind of requirement of modern fashion - in almost every company there is someone who does not smoke, but “vapes,” as vapers themselves put it, of whom, according to the World Health Organization, one in five in Ukraine is.

One of the largest vape stores in Ukraine is Smol.net.ua The authors of the resource offer to buy vapes, accessories and liquids.

It is noteworthy that in the United States this habit has already become so widespread that the authorities decided to fight vapers. So, just the other day a law came into force there that prohibits the sale of fruit fillings for vapes, which were the most popular. Only liquids with mint, menthol and tobacco flavors remained legal. The initiator of the ban at the state level was the Food and Drug Administration.

In the countries of the former Soviet Union, vaping is not yet prohibited, but in Russia they have also begun to think about the fight against “vapers.”

According to some State Duma deputies, contrary to popular belief, vapes are just as harmful as regular cigarettes, and therefore should be subject to excise tax. In addition, the initiators of the restrictions insist that vaping be banned in public places - just as previously happened with tobacco products.

“Both vapes and tobacco are about equally harmful. It is logical if general rules, general restrictions, general prohibitions, and general fines for violating prohibitions apply to them,” said Russian parliament member Leonid Ogul.

Ukrainian parliamentarians are not lagging behind their Russian colleagues and also want to introduce an excise tax on vapes, or more precisely, on the liquids that are refilled in them.

The corresponding bill was registered on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by deputies Anna Gopko and Oleg Musiy. They proposed collecting 1,1 hryvnia for each milliliter of vape liquid.

One way or another, global studies show that with the advent of vaping, the number of smokers has decreased significantly.

According to WHO, from the early 2000s to the present day, 300 million fewer people have started smoking. At the same time, the number of “steamers” over the past five years has grown from seven to 35 million people.

However, it is possible that politicians initiating the introduction of new restrictions are guided, first of all, by the desire to obtain new items to replenish the treasury through excise taxes “on steam”.
