In Ukraine, due to a catastrophic reduction in the pig population, pork imports into the country have sharply increased.
The head of the Ukrainian Rural Union, Ivan Tomich, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The pig population has fallen catastrophically in five years, almost by half. Pork imports have increased almost 10-fold over the past year and a half. We eat other people's fat. It is not normal. We must sell ours, Ukrainian. And not just lard.
And this, of course, is the main factor in the pricing policy that we observe. And the fact that we see low quality and safety of products,” the Ukrainian farmer complained.
