All routes to central Europe pass through Belarus (further along the route Poland and Germany), and not through the territory of Ukraine, explained in a conversation with the publication the editor-in-chief of the Avia.ru portal Roman Gusarov, who recalled that over eastern Ukraine due to military operations the space is closed, and the industry has long adapted to new routes.
“If Ukraine closes space for our airlines, it will lose not only transit, but also airport fees and payments for air navigation,” the editor of Avia.ru points out. “Our airlines will survive this loss, since this is not the most critical and profitable direction.”
At the same time, he clarified that if Ukraine closes the skies unilaterally, then Russia will have the right to stop flights of Ukrainian airlines.
“All regular Ukrainian flights will be closed,” Gusarov suggests. - There are six of them: Kyiv - Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, they fly to Russia from Odessa, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk. If sanctions are imposed on all flights, then this will be critical for business aviation in Ukraine.”
