In Ukraine they want to prosecute an influential Lviv deputy
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Ryaboshapka sent a complaint to the Verkhovna Rada against People's Deputy Yaroslav Dubnevich, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.
“On Thursday, October 17, 2019, Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka sent a proposal to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to give consent to prosecute the People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the ninth convocation. The pre-trial investigation of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office collected enough evidence to inform the MP about suspicion of committing criminal offenses under Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position). According to the investigation, these acts resulted in losses in the amount of UAH 93 million 277 thousand,” the report states.
The Prosecutor General’s Office added that: “The investigation has collected enough evidence to give reason to suspect that, as a people’s deputy of Ukraine of the eighth convocation and while serving as Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Transport, he was aware of the financial condition of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia, in particular its needs during public procurement, and also had influence on the founders and officials of PJSC, which is the only manufacturer of turnouts, shoe releasers, leveling devices, frame rails, crosses, counter rails and separate fastening kits.”
Evidence indicates that the indicated person and his accomplices studied and analyzed the demand and prices on the turnout market and decided to seize the funds of the Branch “Production Support Center” of PJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
“In particular, the investigation believes that the funds were received by legal entities controlled by the people’s deputy and his accomplices through an agreed-upon inflated price when selling switch products to the Branch, while the people’s deputy repeatedly used his official position in the interests of persons associated with him. Subsequently, the funds were used by the accomplices at their own discretion. In accordance with Art. 480, clause 2, part 1, art. 481 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, a special procedure for criminal proceedings is applied in relation to the people’s deputy of Ukraine; a written message to the people’s deputy of Ukraine about suspicion is carried out by the Prosecutor General,” the Prosecutor General added.
Yaroslav Dubnevich is a people's deputy and an influential businessman from the Lviv region, one of two Dubnevich brothers.
Earlier, the prosecutor's office sent to court an indictment against ex-People's Deputy Dmitry Kolesnikov from the Opposition Bloc.
