In Ukraine they want to imprison you for second citizenship
Ukraine should introduce criminal liability and imprison for ten years those who receive second citizenship.
Ukrainian lawyer Stanislav Kutsenko said this on air on the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He hinted that Ukrainian citizens who received Russian citizenship in Crimea are the first candidates for prison terms, since they use both internal Russian and foreign Ukrainian passports.
“You asked about a set of measures. I am in favor of criminal liability, because it is impossible to deprive a Ukrainian of citizenship, this is contrary to the Constitution and, in general, a violation of a basic human right. But it’s another matter when you have a passport of another country, you use it - please, criminal liability, but normal, imprisonment for ten years.
Then people will think about whether to hide their second passport and travel to the European Union with our Ukrainian one, because there is no visa there. This will be a big burden of responsibility and the person will already be thinking about whether to get a passport or not. In our country now, no one bears responsibility, that’s why everyone receives them so en masse and doesn’t think about the consequences,” Kutsenko said.
