In Ukraine, they want to return the mandatory car inspection, which was abolished under Yanukovych.
Mandatory technical inspection for cars, which was abolished as a source of corruption, can be returned as early as January 1, 2016.

This was stated by the head of the All-Ukrainian Association of Automobile Importers and Dealers Oleg Nazarenko, citing his own source in the Ministry of Finance.
“Reason: in the absence of mandatory technical inspection, it is impossible to control the motorist for payment of the mandatory transport tax. They want to return the technical inspection and control the payment of tax at this stage,” says Nazarenko.
The refund project is currently undergoing internal approval at the Ministry of Finance. But there are great chances that such an unpleasant procedure for drivers will be returned, because Ukraine committed to do this when signing the Association Agreement with the EU and acceding to the EU Directive on universal technical inspection.
“In the EU, from January 1, 2015, a full technical inspection will be introduced for all cars. We are obliged to do this from January 1, 2016 to January 1, 2017. And when exactly - the ministry will decide,” said Oleg Nazarenko.
The inspection was canceled back in 2011. It is no secret that previously most motorists underwent such inspections for bribes. The TO itself was just a formality and an excuse for corruption. The rates varied from 300 to 1000 hryvnia, but this is at the dollar exchange rate of 8 hryvnia. It’s hard to say how much a technical inspection would cost now.
