In Ukraine, the artistic director of a cultural center was convicted of killing a librarian in the head with a rebar
The Court of Appeal of the Khmelnitsky region imposed a sentence of life imprisonment on an employee of a cultural institution in the city of Starokonstantinov, who in June 2017, with particular cruelty, committed the murder of a woman who performed the duties of a librarian, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the Khmelnitsky region prosecutor's office.
“The prosecution in court has fully proven the guilt of the specified person in committing a criminal offense under paragraph 4 of Part 2 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (murder committed with extreme cruelty),” said Sergei Nakonechny, head of the regional prosecutor’s office.
Thus, the state prosecution, which was carried out by employees of the industrial department of the regional prosecutor's office, proved in court the guilt of a resident of the Starokonstantinovsky district who killed a fellow villager.
As noted, the conflict between the artistic director of the rural cultural center and the librarian was long-lasting. During disputes that arose on the basis of personal hostility, the man repeatedly threatened “his opponent” with physical violence.
In June 2017, intending to kill a person, he took a piece of metal and came to the victim’s workplace. When the librarian left her office, the attacker forcibly pushed her into the back room and, acting with particular cruelty, began to strike her numerous times in the head. The woman tried to run away and covered her head with her hands to save her life, but the offender continued to strike until she died.
Realizing the consequences of what he had done and trying to avoid responsibility, the man took the crime weapon and fled the scene, but was detained by police on the same day.
