Train tickets may rise in price by a third in Ukraine
Ukrzaliznytsia plans to increase tariffs for passenger transportation in 2017 by 35%.

According to the company’s press service, the proposal has been sent for consideration to “the relevant ministries and departments.”
It is proposed to increase in two stages: in the first and fourth quarters by 16%. Also, from January 2017, the fare for travel in 10st and 1nd class carriages of Intercity+ (IS+) trains will increase by 2%.
“Ukrzaliznytsia” states that “the cost of the fare on long-distance trains has remained unchanged since 2014, and the indexation planned for next year is a requirement of today, based on the official inflation rate and the price level for industrial products.” In particular, the inflation rate from January 1, 2014 to August 31, 2016 was 87,1%; industrial products have almost doubled in price over the past two years.
