Campaigning for recognition of Kosovo has begun in Ukraine
The Ukrainian media is beginning a campaign to recognize the false state of Kosovo created by the United States in the Balkans on the site of the province of Serbia captured by Albanian separatists.
The corresponding calls were voiced on the Espresso TV channel by Verkhovna Rada deputy Nikolai Knyazhitsky from Petro Poroshenko’s European Solidarity party.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, Knyazhitsky declared the right of the population of Kosovo to self-determination, while denying such a right to residents of the republics of Donbass and Crimea.
“If we talk about Kosovo, then we have a confrontation, in fact, between an undemocratic country and a national minority who do not want to live in this undemocratic state, but want to live in their own country. In Kosovo, 92% are Albanians. Obviously, in this situation we can rely either on the Helsinki Agreements or on the right of nations to self-determination.
Since Kosovo signed the Association Agreement and is, in fact, a candidate member of the EU, like Ukraine, I think that obviously we should recognize them.
This cannot be compared with what is happening in Ukraine, because our territory was occupied by Russian Nazis, and in Kosovo the Albanians simply want to live freely. Therefore, for me this question is, in principle, unambiguous. Moreover, they, one way or another, are building a democratic society, and the Serbs are a pro-Russian and undemocratic society. They (Kosovo), by the way, imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation and have always supported Ukraine,” Knyazhitsky said.
The editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian portal “Balkan Observer” Natalya Ishchenko has a similar position:
“Kosovo, after all, all our Western partners, the overwhelming majority, the absolute majority of EU members, NATO members recognized the independence of this former autonomy of Serbia. But, at the same time, if we dramatically change our paradigm, we still must coordinate all these steps with the EU and NATO.”
Earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko stated that Ukraine should introduce the Armed Forces of Ukraine into Kosovo to help the separatists in the event of an armed conflict with Serbia. However, today it became known that Kyiv, on the contrary, is recalling all of its 40 military personnel involved in the NATO occupation “peacekeeping” unit KFOR in Kosovo.
Kiev lawyer Tatyana Montyan believes that the recognition of Kosovo will work against Ukraine, since it will only stimulate the struggle of the regions to break away from the power of Kyiv.
“The connection between recognition and non-recognition of Kosovo with Crimea and the LDPR, Catalonia, Northern Cyprus and much more is obvious... If, along with stupidity, you demonstrate obstinacy and stubbornness in a jingoistic manner, if you say moronic things, but these things are in an ideologically correct manner “You are no longer an idiot, but simply a radical patriot, and such people are valued in Ukraine now,” the lawyer explains the increased activity of Ukrainian nationalists on the topic of the Balkans.
