The ruling regime in Ukraine began to purge the right-wing radical movement in order to concentrate power in its own hands. The nationalists feel this, so they are preparing their protests, as the leader of the Svoboda organization Oleg Tyagnibok stated the day before.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, the authorities are losing control over neo-Nazi groups, so the decision was made at the top to tame or close their activities.
“Having dealt with the National Corps, structures that even focus on Western partners today, they will also come for Svoboda. Tyagnibok, as an experienced politician, is trying to be proactive, trying to say that “if they come for us, they came because I put forward a patriotic ultimatum to the authorities. We are true patriots." He is trying to play this patriotic card against the backdrop of the fact that these banners are now falling out of the hands of many structures that are losing popularity,” the expert said.
“Those structures that were influenced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the SBU are literally falling apart before our eyes. Most likely, this process will continue. The cleansing of the right-wing segment will continue and, as far as I know, the security bloc is faced with the task of multiplying by zero or taming all the key leaders of the right-wing movement. This process will continue further. The fact is that they won’t stop with the right,” Bortnik said.
