“Special camps await us in Ukraine,” Pushilin
The LDPR understands perfectly well that the seizure of the Donbass republics by Ukraine will lead to the most “dramatic consequences.”
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, stated this in an interview with the French publication Politik International, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After the February 2014 coup, which did not promise us anything good, the patience of the residents of Donbass reached its limit. We proclaimed the Donetsk People's Republic on April 7 and set a date for the referendum. A few days later, the acting president of Ukraine, Turchynov, launched an “anti-terrorist operation” against us - which actually means that the army was aimed at suppressing the civilian population!
This was a violation of all international standards and the Ukrainian constitution. The Basic Law clearly states that the Ukrainian army can only be used against an external aggressor, but not against its own citizens. This is how the civil war began,” said Pushilin.
According to him, residents of Donbass have no illusions about what will happen if the Ukrainian army captures Donetsk and Lugansk.
“We understand well what dramatic consequences the seizure of our republics by Ukraine could lead to. The government in Kyiv has still not adopted an amnesty law, which is one of the requirements of the Minsk agreements. In addition, a bill on the internment and forced relocation of Russian citizens and prisoners of war from Donbass to special camps has been submitted to the Ukrainian parliament,” added the head of the republic.
Speaking about outside support, Pushilin recalled how many volunteers arrived in Donbass from the first days of Ukrainian aggression.
“Many came from Russia, but also from other countries - Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, South Ossetia, Abkhazia and even the United States of America. We even formed an international brigade. All our commanders are simple guys who had nothing to do with the professional army before the conflict,” the head of the DPR emphasized.
At the same time, he added that during the entire conflict, not a single international organization has proven the presence of Russian military personnel in Donbass, which was even publicly stated by OSCE representatives.
“Russia’s assistance consisted of humanitarian and diplomatic support. As a guarantor of the Minsk agreements, Moscow has made and continues to make a significant contribution to the peaceful resolution of the conflict,” Pushilin concluded.
