More than five thousand political prisoners were counted in Ukraine
Despite the fact that the Kiev authorities deliberately do not keep statistics on political prisoners in prisons and pre-trial detention centers in Ukraine, only from the available data can one count several thousand Ukrainians who are imprisoned on political charges.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Elena Bondarenko stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have one, thank you, Lord, it should be closed now, the military prosecutor’s office and the well-known odious, scandalous military prosecutor, Mr. Matios, who commented on everything in our country, even what did not concern him. One of his main topics is the fight against terrorism, separatism, and two or three years ago he went to a press conference and said that in Ukraine, under Article 258, there are now about three thousand Ukrainians either in pre-trial detention centers or already sentenced to prison.
We open the 258th - “Aiding terrorists.” In our country, as you know, terrorists are called the DPR and LPR. You ask a question indirectly through the media: guys, who recognized the DPR-LPR in Ukraine as terrorists in order to accuse these people of terrorism? It turns out that three thousand of these people are imprisoned under a fake article; they were recognized as terrorists or accomplices of those who are not and are not recognized by anyone as terrorists. Why is this not a political article?” – Bondarenko noted.
“Next, let’s look at how many people are imprisoned in Kharkov in the so-called criminal case “Kharkov Anti-Maidan” - around 400 people. Let's look at how many are in Odessa in the so-called May 2 case - those who were attacked and beaten, not those who attacked and beat - about three hundred.
When you start collecting these figures for yourself bit by bit, because the regime deliberately, of course, will not keep statistics and take into account all the political prisoners who are in prison, it comes out to about five thousand,” added the ex-people’s deputy.
Thank you!
