About it Kyiv TV channel NewsOne reported with reference to Vitaly Kropachev, a Ukrainian energy market expert participating in the negotiations.
Kropachev said that meetings were held with the leaders of the US Department of Energy, after which it was decided to create a working group that would offer alternative options.
“The option of American coal with a long-term contract with a discount was discussed so that this price would satisfy Ukrainian consumers and generating companies, both private and public... This could be a supply from South African Richard Bay. Today, various price range opportunities have been proposed for our country,” he said.
The expert added that we were talking about the anthracite group, since grade G coal (a gas group mined in Ukrainian-controlled territory) is currently in short supply.
Kropachev emphasized that the working group on the American side will include those people who worked in the energy industry of Ukraine in 2014.
“On our side, at the ministry level, there will be both private structures that work in the energy industry, and heads of generation,” the expert emphasized.
