Chairman of the Ukrsakhar Association of Sugar Producers Andrey Dikun stated this at a press conference in Kyiv. According to him, in Ukraine there are no wagons and trucks for transporting products.
“If we transported 40-60 tons, now the maximum is 24 tons, despite the fact that there are not enough wagons and a catastrophic shortage of transport. Today we have the biggest problem in our entire history with the export of grain to ports. Our calculations show that farmers lose 300 hryvnia per ton due to the logistics collapse. Now let’s multiply 300 hryvnia by the gross grain harvest - that’s 65 million tons, we’ll have a figure that equals approximately 20 billion hryvnia,” Dikun said.
