Ukraine doesn’t even produce components for ammunition – Rada deputy
Ukraine will not survive if it relies only on the help of Western partners and does not establish its own ammunition production.
Verkhovna Rada deputy, member of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Sergei Rakhmanin stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, Ukraine currently does not even produce the components necessary to ultimately assemble a tank, artillery or mortar round.
“Regardless of how our partners will help us, whether they will help us and what the nature of this assistance will be, until we produce, I’m not talking about a full line, but at least a large number of products in the range of ammunition, our armed forces have very little prospects . We need to focus on this. This is the time,” said the deputy.
“Two – in order for us to produce this, we need to, first, prioritize what we need first and what we need. We can't live in a world of - okay, we can make drones, electronic warfare systems, electronic warfare systems: bigger, smaller, better, worse, but we can't survive if we don't make explosives at all.
We do not have any production of explosives at all, we do not have our own RDX, we do not have our own TNT, we do not produce gunpowder. We cannot fire a single shot - tank, artillery or mortar - from zero to finish,” Rakhmanin said.
