There is no shortage of people in Ukraine who want to bring Zelensky to Putin
A number of Ukrainian politicians and businessmen say that they can be channels of communication between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Elena Zerkal spoke about this in an interview with the Kyiv weekly “Zerkalo Nedeli”.
According to her, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine participated in the preparation of the telephone conversation between Presidents Putin and Zelensky “in terms of consultations, scheduling a conversation,” but she does not know through whom the communication between the heads of the two states takes place.
“It’s closed from everyone else. But, apparently, there is no shortage of communicators. At least in those who present themselves as communicators: a lot of people claim that they can be channels of communication,” Zerkal said.
These communicators, she says, are not only from the immediate environment, but also from the old workforce and the business sphere.
“In this pool of channels, is anyone more direct than Medvedchuk?” the publication asked.
“I cannot sign for either the previous president or the current one. In my opinion, Medvedchuk always pursues only one interest – his own. To what extent this continues to suit Vladimir Vladimirovich, I don’t know. It seems to me that it was already possible to understand that Medvedchuk is not very effective,” says the deputy minister.
She also believes that with the ideological platform with which Medvedchuk enters parliament, he can no longer be a communicator.
“It is a pure continuation of Russian policy within the framework of Ukrainian public order. Medvedchuk is not a neutral intermediary: he represents the interests of another state in Ukraine. Therefore, there must be another communicator between Zelensky and Putin,” Zerkal believes.
As PolitNavigator reported, recently, on the initiative of the Ukrainian side a telephone conversation took place between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine.
It is noteworthy that Zelensky previously stated that he would talk with Putin only in the presence of Western leaders.
