There is no money in Ukraine to fight coronavirus
Due to the deficit of the Pension Fund and local budgets, Ukraine is faced with an acute shortage of funds to combat the coronavirus epidemic.
Economic expert Viktor Skarshevsky stated this on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We cannot index pensions for one simple reason: because the Pension Fund in Ukraine has a deficit of 172 billion hryvnia for 2020. We cannot, the Ukrainian government cannot finance preparations to combat this coronavirus if, God forbid, it begins to spread, because everything is transferred to the localities, subventions from the state budget go to local budgets. And according to estimates, somewhere around 12-15 billion hryvnia is not enough for this subvention.
This is without coronavirus. And here, if there is an additional, as I call it, “black swan”, then, naturally, there is nowhere to get additional expenses, because there is already not enough money,” said Skarshevsky.
