Natural gas production has collapsed in Ukraine
The Ukrainian government and the management of Naftogaz are not developing the production of blue fuel in Ukraine because they believe that purchasing reverse gas is more economically profitable.
Energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this on air on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have a very interesting situation where the management of Naftogaz believes that the cost of Ukrainian production is higher than the price of gas that we purchase through the so-called reverse. Figures were given - the cost of a thousand cubic meters of production in Ukraine is $300 and, as an example, on the European market, relatively speaking, $130. Why should we engage in mining here?” the expert noted.
He also called the head of the board of NJSC Naftogaz, Andrei Kobolev, to account for extremely ineffective work.
“By the way, the drop in gas production was 1,8% last year. That is, if in 2018 there were 13,8 (billion cubic meters - editor's note) of commercial gas, then here it became much less, dropped somewhere to 13,6. Therefore, I think that there should be very serious questions for Kobolev, since he is primarily responsible for this situation,” concluded Zemlyansky.
