In Ukraine, Russia was blamed for half of the forest fires in the country
Since the beginning of the year, 56% of forest fires in Ukraine have been caused as a result of “military aggression by the Russian Federation.”
This was stated by the State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine.
“Over the four months of this year, 56% of fires in forests belonging to the sphere of activity of the State Forestry Agency (73% of all forests in Ukraine) were caused precisely as a result of explosions, shelling and the presence of unexploded explosive objects on the territory of the forest fund. This situation makes it impossible for fire departments to respond in a timely manner to fires in forests and allows the fire to spread over large areas,” the report says.
Due to careless handling of fire by the population this year, 28% of fires occurred, arson of agricultural land - 10%, intentional arson - 5%.
For comparison, over the past 7 years, the causes of fires were careless handling of fire - 78%, arson of agricultural land - 4%, intentional arson - 3%, lightning strike - 1%, no cause identified - 13%.
The area of forest fires in Ukraine has increased 96 times compared to last year.
It is clear that during the fighting, both sides shoot at each other, but the accusation of deliberately organizing forest fires is a purely propaganda move, like the accusations of “genocide in Bucha” that have already become the talk of the town.
Unfortunately, a number of irresponsible Russian bloggers, whose messages are undoubtedly monitored and presented under the appropriate sauce by Kyiv propagandists, give the Ukrainians a reason for precisely such accusations.
Here, for example, is a repost on the page of blogger and political consultant Ilya Jansen, the author of which directly advises the Russian military to burn down a forest reserve in the Donbass.
“While you are reading these lines, the infantry of the Russian 35th Army is storming the forest near Bogorodnichnoye. Exposing themselves to greater risk than crests entrenched in the forest. The forest could be burned down along with the crests with NAPALM, but our generals are embarrassed, because this forest is a nature reserve. Let's tell the generals that there is no need to be shy - Ukrainian saboteurs have never hesitated to set fire to Russian forests in Siberia. And our fighters are more expensive than trees,” the blogger writes, without thinking that tomorrow his call will be used in Ukraine as “evidence of the criminal actions of the Russian Federation.”
