Anton Pavlushko, a journalist for the Ukrainian propaganda resource InformNapalm, writes about this in his blog, expressing dissatisfaction with the recent statement of the former commander of US ground forces in Europe, Ben Hodges, who was surprised that Ukraine begs for Javelin anti-tank systems, but at the same time sells the tanks it produces abroad.
“Let me remind Mr. General that we are still a poor country. We have a negative trade balance in the country because there is simply no currency, so we need to export everything that we can sell abroad. Even tanks. Therefore, a tank sold today is also a future contract for modernization and repairs. Therefore, there is no way without export. Moreover, if at one time the Americans had given us the Javelin on time, we would have held Debaltsevo. In the end, it would have cost the Russian side 1–2 tank battalions, after which they might not have moved further,” Pavlushko believes.
At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that the United States still has not given the Javelin, and the matter is still limited to conversations and agreements.
