In Ukraine they explained that pirate hijackings of ships will compensate for the loss of Crimea
Ukrainian TV admitted that the tanker “Mechanik Pogodin” detained in Kherson did not violate the laws of the country.
Ukrainian diplomat and Maidan of Foreign Affairs expert Alexander Khara stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, the arrests and subsequent expropriation of Russian courts by Ukraine will allow it to receive “compensation” for Crimea.
“A very important point is that these ships did not violate Ukrainian legislation, did not enter occupied Crimea or prohibited ports. They simply belong to a company that is on the sanctions list. This is a very good precedent for then, in the same way, to take away property from Russian companies that are on the sanctions lists, in order to compensate for the occupation of Crimea and other damage caused to the state of Ukraine, legal entities and individuals of Ukraine,” Khara said.
Earlier, the crew of the Russian tanker “Mechanik Pogodin”, which was detained in the port of Kherson, announced the possibility of a forceful seizure of the vessel. In turn, Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko called for the use of weapons against the hijackers of Russian ships.
