Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Timofey Milovanov says that in the third quarter of this year, unemployment among the population aged 15-70 years decreased to 7,3% against 8% in the third quarter of last year, and among those of working age - to 7. 6%, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He announced this on his Facebook page.
“The number of employed population aged 15-70 years in the third quarter. 2019 grew to 16,91 million people and a working-age population of 16,21 million people (the employment rate was 59,3% of the population of the corresponding age group and 69,0%, respectively),” writes Milovanov.
It is noted that the number of unemployed people both aged 15-70 years and of working age has decreased and formed at almost the same level (1 thousand people and 329 thousand people, respectively).
At the same time, the unemployment rate of the population aged 15-70 years decreased to 7,3% (compared to 8,0% in the third quarter of 2018), among those of working age - to 7,6%.
Milovanov argues that the rise in employment and decline in unemployment are due to continued strong economic activity.
“The volume of labor supply in the labor market was influenced by a further increase in the amount of insurance coverage required for retirement, as well as the high dynamics of growth in wages (real wages in the third quarter of 2019 increased by 9,0% y/y, labor productivity in the third quarter of 2019 grew by 2,5% year-on-year),” the minister believes.
