Ukraine announced the construction of an “intelligent” border with the Russian Federation
The borders with Russia, Belarus and Moldova in the next three years need to be strengthened with “intelligent” video surveillance and rapid response systems.
The new head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Denis Monastyrsky, announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, for the first time in 30 years, a very clear goal has been set – to build the state border of Ukraine over the next three years. And this is almost 4,5 thousand land borders, as well as sea borders. If we are talking about this goal today, then today it is under the control of the president, and the priority direction for the construction of such a border will, naturally, be the border with the Russian Federation, Belarus and Moldova.
This project is currently being developed with the majority of Ukrainian ministries and 16 regional administrations where the border needs to be built. The president set the deadlines very clearly - over the next year, a section of the Russian border should be closed and a significant section of the Russian-Belarusian border and the border with the Republic of Moldova should be built,” Monastyrsky said.
“Why is the border “intelligent”? Because today the challenges are such that it should not be solely a ditch and a grid. This should truly be a next level intellectual frontier.
Because it is the equipment of video surveillance systems, rapid response systems - only this can ensure stopping the flow of smuggling and the penetration of illegal migrants.
And for several months we have seen almost special operations, for example, against Lithuania, which we are helping to establish a border with today, from the Russian Federation. Especially after the situation in Afghanistan, the migration crisis will increase significantly,” the minister raved.
