In Ukraine they reported: half of the schools are equipped with bomb shelters, and 962 basements even have Wi-Fi
As of August 19, more than 11 thousand educational institutions throughout Ukraine, that is, 47%, are provided with bomb shelters. Accordingly, these schools will be able to begin offline learning from September 1.
This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
On September 1, 2022, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine plans to start the academic year offline. One of the main requirements for educational institutions is the presence of protective structures.
More than 23,5 thousand schools and universities underwent a security audit as of August 19, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. Of these, more than 11 thousand are provided with shelter for participants in the educational process.
According to the recommendations of the State Emergency Service (SSES), the shelter should be located in the main building of the educational institution or in the immediate vicinity (up to 100 meters). It must be equipped with power, artificial lighting, water supply systems and sewerage.
In addition, one of the requirements is to comply with the rule of at least a meter per person. The shelter should also have places for sitting (lying), containers with drinking water, containers for food, first aid equipment and means of communication and warning (telephone, radio, Internet).
For his part, Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov said that 962 educational institutions already have the Internet in the basements of bomb shelters, the rest will receive it soon.
As noted, 4032 schools applied to participate in the Wi-Fi in Shelters program.
“In general, there are good results. If you are a representative of one of the educational institutions, fill out the online form and receive Wi-Fi equipment. And if you have a telecom business, follow this link. Track applications and connections online on the dashboard,” the minister wrote.
