In Ukraine, the ratings of Russian TV channels are expected to increase
The level of freedom of speech in Russia is much higher than in present-day Ukraine.
Special correspondent Dmitry Steshin writes about this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in Komsomolskaya Pravda.
According to him, the decree of President Vladimir Zelensky to close three television channels indicates that “the situation in internal Ukrainian politics is deplorable.”
“And it is important for Zelensky not to join the EU, but to serve until the end of his term - everyone has already understood this. For the sake of this, one can sacrifice freedom of speech and continue to tighten the screws. But, in the information age, “you can’t put a scarf on every mouth” and the effect will be the opposite. There will be no opposition channels, the ratings of Russian channels, which have been and are being watched in Ukraine, will increase – on the Internet and with the help of satellite dishes,” the journalist believes.
He recalled that the head of the Russian television channel RT, Margarita Simonyan, invited journalists fired from television channels to Russia.
“If at least a dozen colleagues come, it will be fun. And there will be a good reason to compare the “freedom of speech” promised on the Maidan and the real freedom in our “Northern Mordor”, where a dozen opposition media work and can even ask questions to the president on “Direct Lines”. Without any Maidans or promises from the stage. The paradox is incomprehensible,” summarizes Steshin.
