This is evidenced by the data of sociological monitoring conducted by the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
If in 2000 the official status of the Russian language was supported by 51% and 33% were against, then in 2012 the number of supporters and opponents of granting official status was equal (43% for, 42% against). In 2013, the majority was already against it (49% against, 36,5% in favor).
. Currently, only 30% supported the official status of the Russian language, and 55,5% were against it.
A social survey as part of the monitoring is conducted annually. This year, the survey was conducted from June 13 to July 2 using a quota sample in all regions using personal interviews at the respondents’ place of residence. 1802 people were surveyed. The sampling error is 2,3%.
Obviously, such survey results reflect the increased homogeneity of Ukrainian society after the departure of the most pro-Russian regions - Crimea and part of Donbass.
