In Ukraine they plan to surprise Gazprom with their cunning plan
The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has a plan to collect from the Russian Gazprom a debt of $2,6 billion in favor of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, which will turn out to be a surprise for the debtor, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was announced by Minister of Justice Pavel Petrenko on the Pryamiy TV channel.
Petrenko clarified that today more than 100 million hryvnia have already been collected from Gazprom into the Ukrainian budget - this is the seizure of the company’s property on the territory of our country.
“As for assets on the territory of other states, we already have a clear plan, which I will not voice, because it should come as a surprise to the debtor. I recommend that they only voluntarily comply with the decision - the remainder that remains under the Stockholm arbitration and the decision of the Ukrainian court,” Petrenko said.
The Minister of Justice also assured that Gazprom would not be able to refuse to comply with the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration Court, since such decisions are enforced in accordance with the New York Convention throughout the world.
“Gazprom has a lot of assets, and we know them, we have identified them. We know the countries where there are the largest assets, and they far cover the debt that we currently have to Naftogaz and Ukraine. The process of executing such a decision is quite clear and uncomplicated. In addition, every day of non-compliance with such a decision attracts a penalty - if I’m not mistaken, half a million (dollars - ed.) every day “drips” additionally to the amount of the debt,” Petrenko clarified.
