In Ukraine, at the direction of Poroshenko, a new punitive body is being created
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko called for the creation of a punitive body to deal with objectionable lawyers.
Lawyer, ex-deputy of Ukraine Elena Lukash stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The authorities crushed and swallowed the judicial system and made the law enforcement agencies organs of political reprisal and robbery. There’s a queue for the bar,” said the politician.
In her opinion, the law will lead to restrictions on the rights of defenders.
“Poroshenko proposed his changes to the law on the legal profession. These changes make lawyers dependent and unprotected. The project leads to a reduction in the rights of lawyers, and therefore your rights, my TV viewers, through mechanisms for narrowing the rights of defenders,” Lukash believes.
“The law introduces mechanisms for eliminating lawyers from the process and, most importantly, is aimed at creating controlled, as I understand it, punitive bodies for disobedient lawyers. I am a lawyer, I call on all sane deputies to reject Poroshenko’s proposal,” the lawyer urged
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that 33% of Ukrainian citizens are convinced that restoring trust in the judicial system in the country is possible only after the dismissal of absolutely all judges and the election of new ones through transparent competitions.
