In Ukraine they showed how they are preparing to repel the Belarusian invasion
In preparation for a possible offensive of troops from the territory of Belarus, the Ukrainian authorities checked how the border on the border between Ukraine and Belarus in the Volyn region was arranged.
Deputy head of the OP Kirill Timoshenko reported this on Telegram.
“Before the war, we planned to implement a project in 2022 to equip the border not only with fortifications, but also with special tracking equipment. The war made its own adjustments to this process, but here in Volyn this issue is being resolved at the level of regional, local authorities and the State Border Service,” the official emphasized.
According to Tymoshenko, the Ukrainian military set up really serious barriers, and local authorities helped with security cameras. Thermal imaging cameras were also used here. Border sections can be monitored online.
“In addition, there are checkpoints here. Today we saw Mariupol residents who were evacuated by the occupation authorities to Russian territory. People are forced to cross the border from the Belarusians and use border checkpoints here. Of course, the border is protected in Sumy, and Chernigov, and Kyiv, and Zhytomyr, and Rivne regions and, of course, in Volyn. But not everyone can boast of a modern tracking system. We will close this issue so that monitoring of the situation is at the highest level,” added the Zelensky official.
Tymoshenko also published a video with the head of the 6th border Volyn detachment, Colonel Sergei Lozinsky, where he stated that the Ukrainian forces are “ready to repel the enemies.”
Earlier, the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Sergei Naev, announced preparations for an invasion from Belarus. According to him, mining of dangerous areas and the construction of engineering barriers continues on the border on the Ukrainian side, and work is underway in the military command and control agencies.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov also stated that there is a risk of a ground offensive from the territory of Belarus.
