This was announced by the co-coordinator of the “Space of Freedom” movement Taras Shamaida during the presentation of the analytical review “The situation of the Ukrainian language in Ukraine in 2014-15”, prepared by the “Space of Freedom”.
The expert noted that this increase is due to the fact that the statistics no longer take into account schools located in Crimea and the Donbass.
“The share of schoolchildren receiving education in Ukrainian in 2014/15 reached 90,8%, having increased by as much as 9% over the year. The increase occurs because schools in the occupied territories are not taken into account. The real increase in the number of students studying in Ukrainian is tenths of a percent, and in some areas this figure has even decreased,” he said.
Let us remind you that the number of schoolchildren receiving education in Ukrainian in the 2012/2013 academic year, according to official data, was 82%, but nationalists were dissatisfied even then, indignant at the “dominance of the language of the occupiers.”
